How filtering works

Almost none of your email is ever read.

Think about how you go through your own mail at home. You can tell a bill from a birthday card without opening it. Who sent it and what's on the front is usually enough. Your mailboxes work the same way.

What happens to each email

1

We look at the outside first

Who sent it and the subject line. "billing@stripe.com, Invoice #1042" is clearly an invoice. No need to open it. About 9 in 10 emails are decided right here, unread.

2

Then the preview line

The short preview you already see under every email in your inbox. One sentence, not the message. That settles most of the rest.

3

Then the first few lines

For emails that are still unclear, the filter reads the opening lines. Just enough to make the call.

4

A few do get read in full

We won't pretend otherwise: sometimes the only way to place an email is to read it. It's rare, and nothing about you or your account goes with it. The filter sees one email by itself, decides in or out, and moves on. Nothing is saved.

Our promises, in plain words

Your AI never does the filtering

The AI you connect only sees what's already inside the mailbox you gave it. It never touches the rest of your inbox.

Filtering is done blind

Each email is checked on its own, with nothing about your account attached, and forgotten as soon as it's decided.

Nothing is kept

We don't store your emails or their contents. All we remember is which mailbox each one belongs to.
